About the KPop Demon Hunters Movie OST

The 2025 animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, features an innovative soundtrack that has achieved remarkable commercial success. The movie follows fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X (consisting of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey) who secretly work as demon hunters, facing off against their demonic counterparts, the boy band Saja Boys (led by Jinu with members Romance, Abs, Baby, and Mystery).

The soundtrack was created by many industry professionals, including BLACKPINK producer Teddy Park, producers 24, IDO, Dominsuk, and supervisor Ian Eisendrath.

The vocal talents behind HUNTR/X include EJAE (Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira), and REI AMI (Zoey), while Saja Boys features voices from Andrew Choi (Jinu), Kevin Woo, samUIL Lee, Neckwav, and Danny Chung. The contrast between the groups was intentional: according to the director Maggie Kang, HUNTR/X songs are “emotionally vulnerable and honest,” while Saja Boys tracks were designed to be “super catchy, but slightly hollow, like there’s no real soul underneath.” (read the interview on Marshable)

The soundtrack achieved unprecedented success, becoming the highest-debuting soundtrack of 2025 on the Billboard 200 (reaching #8, then climbing to #3), with seven songs appearing on the Hot 100. HUNTR/X’s “Golden” and Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” both topped US Spotify charts. In South Korea, “Golden” achieved a perfect all-kill on the charts.

Virtual vs. Real Artist Versions

The soundtrack includes both the original virtual performances and alternate versions by established K-pop artists. Most notably, TWICE members Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung recorded their own version of “Takedown,” which serves as the album’s lead single. The soundtrack also features TWICE’s previously released song “Strategy,” as well as tracks by EXO (“Love Me Right”) and MeloMance (“Love, Maybe”), creating a bridge between the fictional and real K-pop worlds. While some alternate versions may not be available on karaoke machines yet, check this article periodically to see if new songs are added.
