Checking Out Mankyeongsanghoe Near Konkuk University - My Honest Thoughts

(Location: Mankyeongsanghoe Konkuk Univ. Main Branch)

So, we braved the rain for a night out near Konkuk University! We had a bunch of dinner ideas, but everyone wanted something different. One friend was craving sashimi, another wanted something soupy, and someone else didn’t want sashimi to be the main event. Mankyeongsanghoe ended up being the pick because, hey, it looked like they had something for everyone!

Since it was rainy, we went for it and ordered kimchi pancake, salmon, and fish cake soup. Gotta say, the kimchi pancake was way better than I expected – nice and crispy! The salmon was good too, didn’t taste fishy at all, so that was a pleasant surprise. The fish cake soup was pretty standard, you know? Hard to mess that up! We also got one of those old-school lunchboxes, which hit the spot with all the other food. We were basically there for dinner and drinks, so it worked out perfectly!

Honestly, everything was pretty tasty. I kinda had a feeling it might be decent because when we got there around 6 PM, there were already some older guys knocking back drinks. You know how sometimes that’s a sign a place is legit? Like, if the older locals are drinking there early? It totally had that vibe!

So, naturally, we had to have some drinks with our meal. We went for the chestnut makgeolli (rice wine) since they were out of the Jipyeong kind. It wasn’t too sweet, which was actually great with the savory pancake!

It wasn’t until we were basically done eating that I saw something about a review event, haha. Apparently, you needed to post a video… I almost took one of our empty plates but figured, nah. Kinda wish I had, though, because the prize wasn’t just like, a free soda – it was mini marinated salmon! Seriously generous… I regretted not doing it!

The location was super convenient too, right near the Konkuk University station. I tend to trust Kakao Map reviews, and this place had a 4.6 rating with nearly 100 reviews! Okay, yeah, I guess there was a reason it was pretty popular!

Look, it wasn’t like, the most amazing food ever or anything super fancy. But it’s definitely the kind of spot where the drinks go down easily and the food hits the spot while you’re chatting. I’d definitely go back, maybe bring my husband next time and try some other stuff on the menu!
